Popular Nigerian skit maker and comedian, Nasboi, has expressed frustration after a troubling encounter with a police officer who allegedly demanded that he transfer money to a SportyBet account.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Nasboi recounted the incident, revealing that the police stopped him on the road and requested money. When he informed them he had no cash on him, the officer shockingly suggested that he make a transfer to their SportyBet account instead.
“The hell is wrong with Nigeria police? What? I no get cash to give you, you say make I transfer to your Sporty,” he wrote.
The post has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences or expressing outrage over the alleged misconduct.
This incident highlights the ongoing public concerns over police harassment and extortion in Nigeria, issues that have remained at the forefront of discussions despite previous police reforms and the #EndSARS movement.
As of the time of this report, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has yet to issue an official statement regarding Nasboi’s claims.
