Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, has openly accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of fueling the leadership crisis rocking the Labour Party.
Appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Peter Obi didn’t mince words in attributing the party’s internal turmoil to what he called the deliberate interference of the federal government.
“The problem we have in the Labour Party is one instigated and sustained by the government of today,” Obi stated firmly.
Lamenting the current state of politics in Nigeria, Peter Obi decried what he sees as an environment dominated by propaganda, lies, and divisive tactics.
“We now live in a country of propaganda and lies – and they manufacture it. They’re trying to cause problems everywhere, even in families.”
Obi also referenced a recent controversy involving a Labour Party chairman allegedly insulting a state governor, describing such behavior as a sign of deeper dysfunction being strategically encouraged from outside.
“You have a party chairman who calls a governor a dwarf with dwarf thinking. Forget about me – say I’m weak. But is every other person there weak?” he asked rhetorically.
The comment underscores Peter Obi’s growing frustration with both internal party conflicts and external political sabotage, which he believes are part of a broader attempt to destabilize opposition voices in Nigeria.
