Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, one-half of the iconic P-Square duo, has fired back publicly following ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the alleged ₦1.38 billion fraud case involving him and his elder brother and former manager, Jude Chigozie Okoye.
In a heated Instagram Story, Peter made it clear that he is done “being the bigger person,” lashing out at attempts to paint him as a liar in the ongoing legal saga.
Jude Okoye’s Lawyer Accuses Peter of Lying to EFCC
Earlier this week at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Jude Okoye’s legal team claimed that Peter’s statements submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were “full of lies.”
The lawyer challenged Peter’s claims that he was denied access to Northside Music Ltd’s bank accounts, had no knowledge of royalty transactions, and was excluded from company decisions. The authenticity of his academic qualifications was also questioned in court.
“I Am Not MayD or Cynthia Morgan” – Peter Okoye Fumes
Responding to the courtroom revelations, Peter Okoye took to Instagram with a strong message:
“Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything for me to look like a liar. I am not MayD or Cynthia Morgan; I am PETER OKOYE, the one and only THE ROCK/OKWUTE of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail.”
The comment was a pointed reference to past artists associated with Northside Music who also accused Jude Okoye of alleged mismanagement and mistreatment.
Peter Draws Parallels With Late Mohbad’s Case
Peter further cited the tragic case of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, stating that the fallout from that incident inspired his resolve to stop being silent in the face of injustice.
“After watching everything about Mohbad’s death and how the whole thing played out to date, I decided to myself that I would never play the bigger person nor act as the mature one… Never again. So love me or hate me, I will continue speaking my truth!”
Background: The ₦1.38 Billion Legal Battle
The fraud case reportedly centers on financial misappropriation and lack of transparency within Northside Music Ltd, the company founded by Jude Okoye and previously responsible for managing P-Square’s affairs.
Peter Okoye, now performing solo as Mr. P, has alleged he was denied access to royalties and financial records, prompting the investigation and court battle.
As the legal proceedings unfold, public attention remains focused on the Okoye brothers’ strained relationship, once again revealing the cracks that led to P-Square’s earlier breakup.
