A man has been arrested and charged after jumping on stage with Katy Perry on Monday.

The pop star, who is currently on the Australian leg of her Lifetimes Tour, was on stage at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on Monday when a man appeared to jump up and join her without permission.

As Perry continued her performance, the man – later identified as serial prankster Johnson Wen – put his arm around Perry and danced enthusiastically.

According to footage of the incident, the Firework singer quickly moved away from Wen and security guards swiftly removed him from the stage.

Katy Perry told the audience at the time, “There’s never going to be another show like this, so just enjoy it Sydney!”

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Wen has since been arrested and charged with several offences, including entering enclosed land and obstructing a person in performance of work or duties.

He has been granted conditional bail ahead of an appearance at Burwood Local Court on 23 June. He has also been handed a six-month ban from the Sydney Olympic Park grounds, the home of the arena.

During an interview with local news outlet Nine on Tuesday, Wen revealed that he had previously been banned from the venue.

He also said that he had tried to ask the Roar singer if he could join her on stage, saying, “I said let me get on stage with you and she freaked out because she realised I wasn’t a performer.”

He then joked that he had used “magic” to get on the stage, before adding, “Just kidding. I’m just too quick.”
