The Presidency has fired back at Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, over his recent comments alleging that a cabal has hijacked President Bola Tinubu’s administration and that kleptocrats and kakistocrats dominate it.
Reacting to the lawmaker’s claims, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued a stern warning, cautioning Ndume against making reckless statements during media appearances.
In a statement, Onanuga accused Ndume, a former Chief Whip of the Senate, of making baseless allegations without offering any evidence to support his claims.
“Ndume is entitled to his opinion, as a lone-wolf opposition within the APC, though he most often gets his facts wrong or builds his thesis on a specious, faulty foundation,” Onanuga said.
He also referenced a past incident where Ndume allegedly lied about an ambush involving former Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, calling it part of the Senator’s pattern of misinformation.
Onanuga further dismissed Ndume’s use of terms like kleptocrats and kakistocrats, questioning whether the senator fully understood the meanings of the words or simply used them for effect.
“This President has many competent aides, many of whom were accomplished professionals before coming to work for the government,” he added.
“They are doing a damn good job, reengineering the country’s economy to ensure it is put on a solid foundation for sustainable growth.”
Ndume’s remarks have stirred considerable reactions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with critics labeling him as a dissenting voice within the party.
