President Tinubu Visits Survivors of Benue Massacre, Meets State Stakeholders

President Bola Tinubu has paid a visit to survivors of the recent massacre in Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Arriving in Makurdi on Wednesday at about 12:58 p.m. via the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force Base, Tinubu proceeded directly to the hospital where victims of the attack are receiving treatment.

His visit comes in the aftermath of last Friday’s violent assault that claimed the lives of over 200 residents and left many injured.

Following his stop at the hospital, the President was scheduled to meet with key stakeholders at the new Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House to discuss the worsening security situation.

To mark the President’s visit, the Benue State Government declared a public holiday.

The Yelwata attack reportedly saw armed assailants invade the town in the early hours of the day, splitting into three groups to launch a coordinated assault from multiple directions. Locals recounted that the attackers opened fire in waves, creating chaos and weakening community defense efforts.
