R. Kelly Claims Prison Staff Tried to Kill Him With Overdose, Denied Critical Medical Care

R&B singer R. Kelly has accused prison staff at a North Carolina federal facility of intentionally endangering his life by administering a dangerously high dose of his prescribed medication, according to shocking new court filings.

Kelly says the overdose was so severe that he had to be rushed to Duke University Hospital, where doctors reportedly told him the dosage could have been fatal. The singer spent two days hospitalized before being returned to prison.

But the accusations don’t end there.

In the same legal filing, Kelly claims prison officials have deliberately cut off his blood-thinner medication, which he says is crucial to treat his ongoing blood clot issues in both his legs and lungs. He also alleges that they are denying him surgery recommended by medical professionals — a move he describes as a calculated effort to “let him die” behind bars.

Kelly’s legal team is now framing the situation as a deliberate assassination attempt, saying the star fears he may either be killed or left to die in prison.

Federal prosecutors quickly dismissed the claims, calling Kelly’s accusations another manipulative ploy. In their court response, they stated:
“This is the behavior of an abuser and a master manipulator on display.”

Ongoing Legal Battle

Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence for his 2021 convictions on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. While his legal team continues to fight for a possible sentence reduction or retrial, this latest medical controversy could add another layer to his ongoing appeals.

As of now, the Bureau of Prisons has not commented on the allegations.
