Simon Guobadia Says He Was “Targeted for Financial Reasons” in Short-Lived Marriage to Porsha Williams

Simon Guobadia Says He Was “Targeted for Financial Reasons” in Short-Lived Marriage to Porsha Williams

Simon Guobadia, the Nigerian-born businessman and ex-husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, has broken his silence in an exclusive interview with Page Six, claiming he deeply regrets their brief 14-month marriage and believes he was “targeted for financial reasons.”

“This Felt Like a Coup”

Guobadia, 61, said he was “totally blindsided” by Williams’ decision to file for divorce in February 2024.

“I kept asking, ‘Why did you file for divorce?’ And she wouldn’t say anything,” he revealed, adding that he was also unable to reach her family for clarity. “This felt like a coup.”

Frustrated and disillusioned, Guobadia admitted to texting Williams a cutting message:

“This was a $5 million rehab project that I took on.”

Immigration Drama and Sudden Split

Williams, 44, recently told People that she hired an immigration attorney in January 2024 after discovering what she described as “complex” issues related to Guobadia’s legal status in the U.S. She said a Valentine’s Day confrontation was the tipping point, and she filed for divorce a little over a week later.

Guobadia, who was deported to Nigeria earlier this month due to immigration violations, including past allegations of bank and credit card fraud, says Williams never communicated her concerns before filing:

“She never shared her concerns or issues with me before filing for divorce… If you’re married, you talk about these things.”

“I Was in a Vulnerable Position”

Simon went on to claim that Williams pursued him during a vulnerable time, alleging she slid into his DMs shortly after his divorce from RHOA cast member Falynn Guobadia:

“I think I was targeted. I was targeted from day one for financial reasons.”

He added:

“Getting engaged in 30 days … who does that? I was out of my goddamn mind to have done that. Of course, I’m paying dearly for it.”

Divorce Finalized After Deportation

Less than a week after being released from a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center, where he spent four months, a judge finalized his divorce from Williams.
