Simone Inzaghi’s tenure at Inter Milan seems to be nearing its end after the club suffered a 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final.
As reported by Football Italia, the crushing loss in Munich has heightened speculation that the 48-year-old coach might depart before the FIFA Club World Cup begins on June 18.
Although he led Inter to their second Champions League final in three seasons—a notable feat considering the club’s financial limitations— Simone Inzaghi is now giving serious thought to a highly lucrative offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal, which is reportedly valued at €30 million per year.
Inzaghi’s remarks following the match only fueled the growing rumours.
When asked if he would remain in charge for the Club World Cup, he responded, “I don’t know how to answer that question. I came here out of respect after a very painful defeat.”
He admitted the severity of the result but pointed to the wider picture: “We’ve had 58 games since July. Talking about the future now doesn’t feel right.”
While commending PSG for their commanding display, Simone Inzaghi emphasized that defeats can be turning points: “Teams emerge stronger from defeats. It might sound like a cliché, but we’ve done it before and can do it again.”
Transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio notes that Al-Hilal are confident about finalizing a deal with Inzaghi soon.
