Former presidential candidate and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised the recently formed coalition opposing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing its members as “tired individuals” who contributed to Nigeria’s current challenges.
Sowore, who is also the Publisher of SaharaReporters, made the statement during an interview on Arise News on Wednesday evening.
He said;
“If you look at the people in this coalition, they are people who are tired, apart from the fact that they are complicit in putting Nigeria where it is today. They’re destiny rustlers just as you talk about cattle rustlers.”
Distancing himself from the coalition, Sowore made it clear he is not part of the alliance.
“I’m not part of the opposition coalition. I’ve said it time without number. The coalition that Nigerians need is the one formed by the oppress.”
He further described the coalition as a distraction designed to derail efforts by ordinary Nigerians to form a genuine, people-driven political movement.
“This opposition coalition move you’re seeing was actually created to distract the Nigerians from creating their own,” he said.
The coalition, formed to counter President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, includes notable political figures such as former Senate President David Mark, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
