South African actress and DJ Thuli Phongolo has responded to widespread rumours linking her romantically to Zimbabwean businessman and politician Scott Kupa — and she’s not holding back.
The speculation began when controversial blogger Musa Khawula claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that Kupa, a ZANU-PF Member of Parliament, had purchased a Lamborghini for Thuli and that the two were allegedly in a relationship. The post quickly gained traction online, sparking conversation about Thuli’s personal life following her past relationship with DJ Maphorisa.
“Thuli Phongolo finds love in the arms of Scott Kupa,” Musa tweeted, adding that the businessman had allegedly spoiled her with a luxury car.
Thuli Sets the Record Straight
But Thuli wasn’t having any of it. Taking to her Instagram Stories, she firmly denied any romantic involvement with Kupa:
“Let me indulge you for a sec… You guys need to stop trying to link me to people I wouldn’t even consider dating… I’m not dating Scott Kupa. The end.”
She later poked fun at the persistent rumours with a sarcastic caption under a glam Instagram post:
“All the captions I wrote about NOT dating Scott were weighing down the vibe so I just landed on M.”
Kupa’s Name Not New to Gossip
This isn’t the first time Scott Kupa has been linked to a South African celebrity. In late 2023, Khawula also alleged that Kupa sponsored a lavish trip to London for influencer Mihlali Ndamase. However, Kupa denied the claims, telling gossip blog Maphepha Ndaba that he had no connection to Mihlali and didn’t even know who she was.
