President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday signaled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is open to welcoming the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, into its fold.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) connecting Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road), along with other roads in the Katampe District, Tinubu said the APC would be glad to receive Wike whenever he chooses to defect.
“With Wike, APC will continue to be in a joyous mood, while our rivals will continue to writhe in pain,” the President said.
Wike, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has remained a politically influential figure despite his party’s internal leadership crisis, which deepened in the lead-up to the 2023 presidential elections.
Tinubu’s remarks further fuel speculation about Wike’s political alignment amid ongoing tensions within the PDP.
