Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage warmed hearts at the Meltdown Festival in London on Saturday after pausing her performance to publicly acknowledge her former English teacher, whom she unexpectedly spotted in the crowd.
In a now-viral video circulating on social media, the 45-year-old singer was seen lighting up with joy as she recognized the elderly man in the audience. Without hesitation, Tiwa stepped off the stage and into the crowd to warmly embrace him.
“The person that made me love literature,” she said while introducing him to the cheering crowd.
The emotional reunion sparked widespread admiration online, with fans praising Tiwa Savage for her humility and gratitude.

Born on February 5, 1980, Tiwa Savage moved to the United Kingdom at age 11. She began her music journey singing backup for legends like George Michael and Mary J. Blige before launching her successful solo career in Nigeria.
Often dubbed the Queen of Afrobeats, Tiwa has earned numerous accolades, including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act (2018), along with multiple Headies and AFRIMA awards.
