Singers Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay have stirred reactions online after sharing a warm embrace at the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation 2026 graduation in Lagos, fueling fresh talk of reconciliation years after their public fallout.
The event, organized by the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation in partnership with Berklee College of Music, was held on Sunday at the National Theatre as part of the “Berklee in Nigeria: Class of 2026” graduation.
The ceremony featured a free concert with performances from about 120 emerging artists, while 18 students received full three-year undergraduate scholarships to study at Berklee in Boston. Singer Teni also performed at the event.
However, beyond the music and celebration, a circulating video of Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay exchanging a friendly embrace quickly captured attention online.
The moment drew strong reactions from fans, given the pair’s well-known history of tension, especially following their widely discussed 2021 confrontation at a Lagos salon that went viral.
For many, the hug appeared to signal a possible thaw in relations between the two stars.
Their fallout had been linked over the years to industry tensions, misunderstandings and lingering issues, including controversy surrounding the 2019 Fvck You challenge.
In 2025, Seyi Shay spoke publicly about the breakdown in their relationship during an appearance on the OffAir Show, admitting she did not initially understand what caused the distance.
“I honestly didn’t know why Tiwa and I stopped talking to each other,” she said at the time.
She later revealed she gained clarity after reconnecting with a former staff member, whose admission she said helped her better understand why Tiwa may have believed she was aware of certain personal issues that contributed to the fallout.
Seyi Shay had also said she was open to reconciliation and willing to have a conversation to resolve their differences, stressing she held no bad blood.
Tiwa Savage had similarly suggested in previous comments that a conversation might be necessary to address unresolved issues, while denying accusations that she had blocked opportunities for other artists.
With their latest public embrace now making rounds online, many fans are seeing it as a possible new chapter between the two singers.
