Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly threatening to go on strike after the club allegedly reneged on a previous transfer agreement.
The relationship between the Swedish forward and the Portuguese champions has deteriorated significantly, with sources describing it as having hit a new low.
Viktor Gyokeres, 26, is said to be “furious” after Sporting backtracked on a promise that he could leave if a club met a £60 million (€70m) release figure. The club is now reportedly demanding £70 million (€83m) instead — a move that the player sees as unfair and disrespectful.
In response, Viktor Gyokeres has told the club he feels betrayed and is considering drastic measures, including refusing to report for pre-season training. There are growing concerns that he may have already played his final game for Sporting.
Manchester United have already made an initial approach for the striker, while Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are also believed to be closely monitoring the situation.
