Phrank Shuaibu, the Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has revealed the real reason behind his principal’s decision to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Shuaibu said Atiku left the PDP because the party has lost its voice, favour, and vitality to function as a strong opposition to the current Bola Tinubu-led administration.
“He is not giving up. He can’t give up until he sees a better Nigeria. Atiku will not give up until we get rid of this clueless government,” Shuaibu declared.
“Leaving PDP is not about fear or about capitulation. It is about making an informed decision based on principle.”
Background
Atiku’s resignation from the PDP was officially announced on Wednesday, citing the party’s trajectory and its failure to reposition itself as a viable alternative for Nigerians.
Shuaibu emphasized that the move was strategic and principled, not motivated by political fear or surrender.
“Atiku will not give up until we have good leaders for this country called Nigeria,” he added.
What Next?
The resignation has sparked widespread speculation about Atiku’s next political move ahead of the 2027 general elections, with many wondering if he will team up with other opposition figures or support the formation of a new political coalition.
