“Ignoring Peter Obi Will Lead to Voter Apathy” – Aisha Yesufu Warns ADC Opposition Coalition

2023: "I will not be able to talk anyhow to people" - Aisha Yesufu gives 10 Reasons Why She Can’t Peter Obi’s Running Mate

Popular Nigerian activist and co-founder of the #EndSARS movement, Aisha Yesufu, has issued a stern warning to the emerging opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) not to sideline Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Yesufu emphasized Obi’s significant political influence and warned that dismissing him could lead to widespread voter apathy in future elections.

“There are 3 voting blocs in Nigeria:
APC has one,
PDP has one,
And Peter Obi has one,” she wrote.

Yesufu pointed out that while both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have lost substantial followings since the last election, Peter Obi still commands a strong and active voter base, particularly among Nigeria’s youth and urban voters.

“If you ignore the third one, it will be at your own peril because many will not be motivated to vote. And when people do not come out to vote, there would be apathy,” she added.

Her comments come amid growing discussions around building a united front to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.

Peter Obi’s role in the proposed coalition remains a contentious issue, particularly among some political stakeholders who underestimate his electoral impact.

Yesufu’s message serves as both a strategic reminder and a political reality check for the opposition as they seek to forge a credible alliance that resonates with Nigerians.
