Arsenal have secured a verbal agreement to sign Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon, with all parties now aligned on the terms of the transfer.
According to multiple sources, Sporting have accepted Arsenal’s latest bid — a package worth €63.5 million plus €10 million in add-ons. The deal also includes a revised agreement with the player’s representatives, as Gyökeres’ agent has agreed to reduce his commission to facilitate the move.
Gyökeres is set to sign a five-year contract with the Gunners after making it clear that he only wanted Arsenal despite interest from other European clubs.
The 26-year-old had a sensational 2023/24 season in Portugal, scoring 43 goals and providing 15 assists in all competitions, making him one of Europe’s most in-demand forwards.
His arrival adds serious firepower to Mikel Arteta’s squad, as Arsenal aim to go one step further in their pursuit of the Premier League and Champions League titles next season.
Medical tests and official announcements are expected shortly.
