The federal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs has ended with a mixed verdict—but for Cassie Ventura’s legal team, the message is clear: her bravery set the wheels of justice in motion.
Following Combs’ conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, Cassie’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, released a powerful statement, praising the singer and model for her role in holding the music mogul accountable.
“This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023,” Wigdor said.
Though Diddy was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges, Wigdor emphasized the broader significance of Cassie’s actions.
“Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution,” he continued.
“By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice.”
The attorney applauded her “unquestionable strength,” noting that she has helped spotlight the longstanding culture of abuse and impunity surrounding powerful men in the industry.
“This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors,” Wigdor concluded.
Cassie’s 2023 lawsuit—which included allegations of physical abuse, coercion, and trafficking—was the catalyst for a series of civil and criminal investigations into Combs’ conduct. Though her civil case was settled shortly after it was filed, the testimony and evidence it unearthed helped fuel the larger movement that ultimately led to Diddy’s federal indictment.
