Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has accused members of the opposition of attempting to stir conflict between Tinubu’s administration and loyalists of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Bwala alleged that a “coalition of internally displaced politicians” were behind efforts to pit “Buhari boys” against “Tinubu boys.”
He claimed the group deliberately misinterpreted recent comments by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, who had stated that Tinubu was not responsible for Buhari’s rise to power in 2015, crediting instead Buhari’s consistent base of 12 million votes.
Bwala also revealed that an article was falsely attributed to Garba Shehu, Buhari’s former spokesperson, in an attempt to provoke conflict between them.
“They failed, because Garba Shehu and I talked it out,” Bwala wrote.
He described the opposition coalition as a “hydra-headed octopus” on a “wild goose chase”, accusing them of attempting to rewrite history and manipulate political narratives through media distortion.
The development underscores growing tensions and political maneuvering within Nigeria’s political class as the Tinubu administration faces criticism and pressure from opposition groups.
