Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has voiced her anguish over the rising spate of violence and kidnappings in Nigeria’s South-East, following the tragic death of Anambra businessman Ifesinachi “Fish Magnet” Onyekere.
Onyekere was abducted on Saturday, July 26, and later confirmed dead. Reacting on Instagram, Etiko lamented the killing of “an innocent, hardworking man” and urged authorities to address the worsening security situation:
“Kidnapping and taking money from him wasn’t enough—must you take his life?
Please, our government should look into the security of our country. This tragedy is becoming a nightmare. We need maximum security in all states, especially in the eastern part of Nigeria. My heart is pained. RIP my Igbo brother.”
Etiko’s plea adds to growing public outcry for stronger measures to curb kidnapping and violent crime across the region.
