Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbert has publicly apologised to several colleagues in the film industry while announcing that she will be stepping away from social media for a while.
The actress made the announcement in an emotional post shared on Instagram, explaining that she intends to use the time away to reflect, make peace with people she may have offended, and return with a renewed mindset.
Among those she addressed directly in her message was fellow actress Destiny Etiko, whom she apologised to while acknowledging that gossip and outside influences played a role in their misunderstanding.
“Dear Destiny, you know the truth, and I know how hurt you are and have been, but these people wouldn’t let me be,” she wrote.
“They gossip you to me and gossip me to you. They’re called blabbermouth and gossip mongers.”
Hilbert admitted that the situation had deeply affected her and asked Etiko for forgiveness, saying she now understands the impact of the conflict between them.
“Forgive your girl and forget. I’ve got your back and I’m ready to take any lash from anyone because your heart is rare,” she added.
The actress said writing the message was emotionally difficult for her, revealing that she felt broken while making the public apology.
“I’m so broken as I drop this. Today I am officially announcing that I will be off social media for a while to fix certain things and make peace with some certain spirits,” she wrote.
Beyond Destiny Etiko, Hilbert also extended apologies to other Nollywood personalities including Yul Edochie, Mercy Johnson, and Angela Okorie, asking them to forgive her if she had offended them in any way.
“Dear Yul, I’m sorry for any way I might have offended you… please let peace reign. I take all the blame,” she wrote.
She also appealed to Mercy Johnson and Angela Okorie, expressing hope that they would find it in their hearts to forgive her.
Hilbert concluded the message by thanking her fans for their continued support, assuring them that she does not take their love for granted.
The actress added that she hopes to return to social media as a changed person after taking time to reflect and distance herself from what she described as gossip and negativity.
