“Done and Dusted” – Dino Melaye Officially Called to the Nigerian Bar

Another great Milestone as former senator, Dino Melaye bags law degree from the University Of Abuja (photos)

Former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye has added a new title to his name — Barrister-at-Law. The outspoken politician and former lawmaker was officially called to the Nigerian Bar on Thursday, marking his entry into the legal profession.

Melaye celebrated the milestone with photos shared across his social media platforms. In one of the images, he donned the traditional lawyer’s robe and wig, a proud moment for the ex-senator. He captioned one of the posts:

Done and dusted.

Another photo featured Melaye alongside fellow lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, further drawing attention to the celebratory event.

From Politics to the Courtroom

Back in April 2025, Melaye had announced that he passed the Bar Final Examinations, saying:

Law school results are out. I made it to the largest bar in Africa. Who did it? God did it.

Melaye pursued his law degree at Baze University, Abuja, following an earlier academic background in Geography from Ahmadu Bello University.

Though he previously claimed to be the best graduating law student from Baze University, later reports clarified that he graduated with a Second Class Lower degree. Despite the controversy, Melaye stayed the course, eventually completing his law school requirements and earning his place among Nigeria’s legal professionals.

A Rare Path Among Politicians

Dino Melaye’s latest feat sets him apart as one of the few Nigerian politicians to transition into the legal field after public service. Known for his flamboyant persona, musical skits, and fiery speeches on the Senate floor, Melaye’s legal journey adds a new dimension to his already colorful public image.
