Nollywood stars Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham have finally put an end to long-standing speculations of a feud, following a friendly and humorous interaction on Instagram that delighted their fans.
The moment unfolded after Funke shared a video of herself dancing energetically to Olamide’s hit track “99,” featuring Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn, and Asake. Toyin took to the comment section, complimenting her colleague with the words, “Aunty Funke you hot ooo.”
Funke responded light-heartedly, saying, “Toyin lol, onijogbon. Thanks dear,” playfully calling Toyin a “troublemaker” — a sign of camaraderie that confirmed all is well between the two.
The exchange sparked excitement across social media, with fans celebrating the end of perceived tension. One commenter wrote, “Eyin fans isonu oya make una rest … tor Oluwaseun,” which loosely translates to, “You senseless fans should relax now, thank God.”
Rumors of rivalry between the two actresses have swirled for years, largely fueled by fans who regularly compare their box office hits, award wins, and acting styles.
Despite the online narrative, both stars have occasionally acknowledged each other’s successes. In December 2023, Toyin congratulated Funke after A Tribe Called Judah made history as the first Nollywood film to gross over ₦1 billion at the box office.
Funke Akindele is best known for her roles in Jenifa’s Diary, Battle on Buka Street, and the record-breaking A Tribe Called Judah. She remains one of the most awarded actresses in Africa, especially at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Toyin Abraham, also a box office powerhouse, is celebrated for her performances in films like Alakada, Elevator Baby, Ijakumo, and Malaika.
Following their public show of goodwill, fans have taken to social media to urge the duo to collaborate on a movie project.
“I’m happy, but I want to see them collab in a movie. I love them both,” one fan wrote.
While no joint project has been announced yet, their recent interaction has reignited hopes among movie lovers who are eager to see the two queens of Nollywood share the big screen.
