“I Learnt It While I Was With Him” – Peruzzi Admits He Sometimes Sounds Like 2Baba

2Baba My Mentor, I Copy Him A Lot – Peruzzi

Nigerian singer Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, popularly known as Peruzzi, has acknowledged the frequent comparisons between his vocals and those of Afrobeats legend 2Face Idibia, aka 2Baba.

In a recent appearance on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast hosted by Joey Akan, Peruzzi addressed the similarities in their sound, revealing that his time with the iconic singer influenced his vocal delivery.

“How do people say I sound like 2Baba sometimes? I learnt it while I was with him,” Peruzzi said.

Over the years, fans have often noted the striking vocal resemblance between Peruzzi and 2Baba, especially in tone and delivery.

The comparisons became even more pronounced after the pair collaborated on the 2020 hit track ‘Amaka’—a song that showcased their seamless vocal chemistry and became an instant fan favorite.

A Legacy of Influence

2Baba, known for his timeless classic ‘African Queen’, has inspired many contemporary Nigerian artists with his distinctive voice and soulful melodies.

Peruzzi’s acknowledgment of that influence adds to the list of younger acts who continue to carry the torch of Nigerian music’s golden era into the modern Afrobeats soundscape.

Fans online continue to appreciate the synergy between both artists and remain hopeful for more collaborations in the future.
