Nigerian singer Iyanya has emotionally recounted the darkest period of his life, revealing how he lost three close family members within the span of two years — including his mother, father, and brother.
In a recent heartfelt interview with media personality Hero Daniels, the Kukere crooner shared how these losses unfolded during a pivotal moment in his career, describing them as his lowest points.
“The lowest points of my life? I would say losing three family members in about two years,” Iyanya said. “My dad passed away about seven or eight days before I got signed. Immediately after I came out, my brother followed. And then my mom.”
Iyanya revealed that he received the news of his mother’s death just four minutes before he was due to perform at an event. Despite the emotional weight of the moment, he chose to go on stage and perform.
“The day my mom died, I had a show. I was at the backstage. I think four minutes to my performance, my mom’s junior brother was calling me back-to-back. So, I picked the call and he goes like, ‘Your mom is dead.’ I still performed despite my devastation.”
Fans have since flooded social media with messages of support and admiration for Iyanya’s strength and resilience, calling his story a reminder of the personal battles many celebrities silently endure while living in the spotlight.
