Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has opened up about her admiration for global superstar Rihanna, describing her as the perfect role model and revealing how surreal it felt to learn that the pop icon is actually a fan of her music.
In a candid chat with ETalk TV, the “Rush” crooner reflected on meeting Rihanna for the first time, describing the experience as something straight out of a dream.
“She’s such an amazing person,” Ayra Starr said. “To be honest, it still feels like a dream. I love her so much. People always say, ‘never meet your idols,’ but I’m so glad I met mine.”
What truly blew her away, though, was Rihanna confessing that she listens to Ayra’s music — a moment the Mavin Records star says she’ll never forget.
“The fact that she loves my music — I’m my favourite artist’s favourite artist,” she beamed.
The singer went on to praise Rihanna as not just a musical icon but a role model and source of inspiration.
“She’s such an amazing artist, an amazing woman, an amazing person in general — somebody to look up to. I know I chose a great role model. When I get nervous around her, I try to make unnecessary jokes,” she laughed.
Ayra Starr also hinted at a future collaboration with Rihanna, saying she’s hopeful something special will happen musically between them. With mutual admiration now in the open, fans are eager to see what magic this duo could create.
