Nigerian singer Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has weighed in on the ongoing debate over mediocrity in the Nigerian music industry, asserting that real talent will always stand the test of time.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the ‘Kukere’ crooner wrote:

“At the end of the day, we will separate the wack artists from the real ones.”

Iyanya’s comment appears to reflect a growing concern within the industry over artificial hype, auto-tune dependency, and alleged manipulation of streaming numbers—practices critics say undermine genuine artistry.

The use of streaming farms to inflate song numbers and chart positions has been a hot topic in recent months. Rappers Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck have both expressed frustration over what they describe as the “high level of streaming fraud” in Nigeria’s music space.

Industry mogul Don Jazzy was previously forced to deny allegations that he buys “fake streams” to boost the visibility of his label’s artistes, while singer Shallipopi also dismissed reports that he spent N9 million on streaming farms to climb digital music charts.

Despite these denials, accusations of manipulated metrics and superficial fame continue to cast a shadow over the industry.
