A U.S. federal judge has officially scheduled October 3 as the sentencing date for music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, following his recent conviction on transportation to engage in prostitution charges.
The decision was made by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who presided over Combs’ high-profile trial in Manhattan. The date was confirmed after a request from Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, and was agreed upon by federal prosecutors and probation officers.
Diddy’s’ legal team is expected to submit their sentencing recommendation by September 19, with prosecutors likely to respond a week later. Under federal sentencing guidelines, the Grammy-winning rapper faces up to 63 months in prison.
Diddy has been held without bail since his September 2024 arrest, currently housed in the Special Housing Unit at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre. Despite being acquitted on July 2 of more severe charges — including sex trafficking and racketeering that could have resulted in a life sentence — Judge Subramanian denied his release pending sentencing.
The mixed verdict has been described as a partial win for the defense and a setback for prosecutors. While Combs was cleared of the most serious allegations, jurors found him guilty on two counts related to facilitating prostitution linked to drug-fueled sexual encounters.
The legal saga surrounding one of hip-hop’s most influential figures has sparked widespread media attention, with many now closely watching how the court will weigh the charges during sentencing this October.
