Julian Reese, a former University of Maryland standout and younger brother of WNBA star Angel Reese, is officially headed to the NBA.
After going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, the 6-foot-9 forward has signed a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, marking a significant step in his professional basketball journey.
The announcement was made by ADS Sports Management, the Minneapolis-based agency representing Julian. “Big congrats to Julian Reese, who will head to LA with the Lakers!” the agency shared via Instagram, confirming the exciting news.
Angel Reese, who recently made waves in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky, isn’t just celebrating from the sidelines—she’s actively guiding her younger brother through this pivotal moment. Balancing sisterly support with veteran insight, Angel has been keeping Julian grounded and focused.
“You’ve got to maximize it because you don’t get these opportunities twice,” Angel told reporters. “I told him to show up first and make sure you’re at the front of the line for drills. He doesn’t have the opportunity to slack off.”
She added that she sees this moment as a true turning point for Julian. “He has to really push through and show his all, because it’s now or never. I think he has a really great opportunity, especially with the Lakers and what they need in the front court.”
Angel, who’s no stranger to pressure herself, says she stays in constant touch with Julian during this new phase. “I text him every day… I’m really happy for him and proud of him.”
With Julian looking to make his mark and Angel firmly in his corner, the Reese siblings are proving that talent—and tenacity—runs deep in the family.
