The jury in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ high-profile federal trial has reached a partial verdict after weeks of testimony and deliberations — but remains deadlocked on the most serious charge.
Diddy, 55, faces multiple allegations including sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
On Monday, the jury foreperson informed the court that verdicts had been reached on counts 2 through 5, but jurors were at an impasse regarding the racketeering conspiracy charge. According to the foreperson, opinions on the charge were “unmovable” on both sides.
Both the prosecution and defense asked that the jury continue deliberations. However, prosecutors urged the judge to consider delivering an Allen charge — a judicial instruction used to encourage jurors to reach a unanimous verdict. The defense opposed the move.
Judge Arun Subramanian stated he does not yet believe the jury is at a stage to receive or deliver a partial verdict.
Earlier in the deliberations, which began after a seven-week trial in New York, proceedings briefly stumbled when the jury raised concerns about Juror #25’s ability to follow instructions. The judge reminded all jurors of their “duty” to deliberate in accordance with court guidance.
The 12-member jury consists of eight men and four women. Diddy’s trial continues as deliberations resume.
