Pop star Katy Perry has officially been granted a permanent restraining order against a man who has allegedly shown up multiple times at her California home uninvited, raising serious safety concerns.
According to TMZ, the court approved Perry’s request on Monday following disturbing incidents involving Ross Elliott Hedrick, a 43-year-old man who is reportedly homeless. Perry initially filed for protection in mid-June after Hedrick turned up at her Santa Barbara property twice in May — despite having been arrested after his first visit.
Legal documents submitted by the singer’s security company described Hedrick’s behavior as threatening. During one of his appearances, he allegedly carried an aerosol can and lighter, raising fears about his intent. On a second occasion, he reportedly threw a blanket over the security gate in an apparent effort to bypass it.
Evidence from Katy Perry’s Ring doorbell camera was submitted to the court, including screenshots believed to show Hedrick on the property. Her security team emphasized that the risk of Hedrick returning remained high, urging the court to take the situation seriously.
As a result, the judge issued a restraining order that requires Hedrick to stay at least 100 yards away from Katy Perry, her residence, and her now-former partner, Orlando Bloom.
The restraining order comes amid another major life update for the pop icon — the end of her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. Earlier this month, the pair, who share a 4-year-old daughter named Daisy, confirmed their breakup after years of an on-and-off relationship.
In a joint statement, representatives said:
“Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”
The couple, who started dating in 2016 and got engaged in 2019, have remained relatively private about the details behind their split, but appear committed to raising their daughter amicably.
While the breakup may have saddened fans, Katy Perry’s legal victory is being seen as an important step in prioritizing her safety — especially as she navigates this new chapter in both her personal and professional life.
