Kenya has officially eliminated visa requirements for Nigerian citizens, all African countries, and most Caribbean nations, according to a Kenya Times report on Sunday.
Under the new policy, citizens from these regions will no longer need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter Kenya. However, Libya and Somalia are excluded from the waiver due to security concerns, the Kenyan government clarified.
This major policy shift is in line with President William Ruto’s vision of easing access for travellers and investors into Kenya, promoting tourism, trade, and regional integration.
Earlier in January 2025, the Kenyan government had hinted at plans to roll out traveller-friendly reforms aimed at improving the overall travel experience to and within the country.
The decision also comes shortly after the Nigerian government reviewed its Visa-on-Arrival policy, signaling a broader trend across the continent toward more open and streamlined travel protocols.
