Lionel Messi continues to rewrite history in Major League Soccer after scoring a brace in Inter Miami’s 2-0 win over Nashville SC on Saturday night.
The 38-year-old Argentine forward became the first player in MLS history to score multiple goals in five consecutive matches, extending a record he first set just last week.
Messi opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a stunning free-kick — the 69th direct free-kick goal of his illustrious career. He sealed the victory in the 62nd minute, rounding the goalkeeper before calmly slotting home his second of the night.
With 16 goals, Messi now shares the top scorer position in the league with Nashville’s Sam Surridge.
Since joining Inter Miami, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has been in sensational form, delivering consistent match-winning performances and drawing global attention to the MLS.
