Malam Mamman Daura, the nephew of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been hospitalised in London, where he is currently receiving treatment and recuperating, according to official sources.
This development comes shortly after the death of former President Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a hospital in London after a brief illness.
Shettima Leads Delegation, Visits Aisha Buhari and Mamman Daura
On Monday, July 14, Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in London as the head of the Federal Government delegation tasked with repatriating Buhari’s body to Nigeria. During the visit, Shettima met with former First Lady Aisha Buhari and the late president’s children.
The vice president also paid a visit to Mamman Daura in the hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition and recuperating.
A statement from the Office of the Vice President, signed by Shettima’s media aide Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed the visit:
“On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, upon arrival in London, met with and condoled with the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
The Vice President also visited the late President’s nephew, Malam Mamman Daura, who is recuperating in a London hospital.”

Buhari’s Burial Set for Tuesday
The statement further confirmed that former President Muhammadu Buhari will be buried on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
