Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has issued a strong defense of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging critics not to underestimate the President’s leadership.
Ribadu described Tinubu as a “digital President” and warned that those who continue to challenge his administration are “living in the past with outdated ideas and failed records.”
“We have quality leadership today in our country. Mr. President is a digital President. People who underestimate him are doing so at their own peril,” Ribadu said.
His comments come amid rising political tension following allegations of a plot to destabilize the Tinubu-led government, which the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vehemently denied.
ADC Reacts: “No Plot, Just Intimidation Tactics”
In a statement, the ADC accused the Presidency of fabricating claims of an attempted coup plot in order to intimidate and repress opposition voices.
“This is nothing but a calculated strategy to justify crackdowns on opposition leaders,” the ADC stated.
Babachir Lawal Alleges Internal APC Support for Opposition
Adding to the intrigue, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, alleged that some APC governors and senior party members are secretly backing the opposition coalition formed under the ADC platform.
Senator Ireti Kingibe and the ADC Coalition
Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), confirmed her alignment with the ADC-led coalition, although she maintained that she remains a member of the Labour Party.
“I am still in the Labour Party, but I align fully with the objectives of the ADC-led coalition,” she said.
PDP Senator Abba Moro Distances Himself from Coalition
Meanwhile, Senator Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South) clarified his stance, saying he remains a committed PDP member and has no plans to join any coalition.
“I am fully committed to the PDP and will continue to work within the party,” Moro affirmed.
