General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed why he turned down a personal visit request from an African head of state seeking divine healing.
Speaking during the July 2025 Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption City in Mowe, Ogun State, Pastor Adeboye revealed that the unnamed president had exhausted all medical options to cure an undisclosed illness before being advised to seek spiritual help from the respected clergyman.
“I remember the case of one head of state somewhere in Africa who had a problem that no doctor could handle,” Pastor Adeboye said.
“He called our pastor in the capital of his country and said, ‘Send for your General Overseer.’”
However, the revered man of God declined the invitation, citing a higher spiritual priority and his commitment to God’s schedule.
“I said tell the excellency that I’m very busy. I didn’t want to explain that there is one Excellency that is more excellent than the other,” he added.
Adeboye further stated that his schedule was already booked a year in advance, and instead, he advised the head of state to visit Redemption Camp. Eventually, the president heeded the suggestion — and, according to Adeboye, was healed the very day he arrived at the camp.
“Anger Is Temporary Madness” — Adeboye Warns Against Provocation
In the same sermon, Pastor Adeboye delivered a powerful message on the dangers of anger, urging believers to maintain self-control even when faced with insults or provocation.
“Anger is temporary madness. You don’t want to be mad. One of the easiest ways to have your destiny destroyed is to get angry,” he warned.
The 82-year-old preacher noted that he had endured countless verbal attacks but never allowed emotions to override his purpose.
“A lot of people have been saying all kinds of nonsense about me… and they are waiting for me to get angry one day. That is what they are planning, but I’m going to reach my goal.”
Pastor Adeboye emphasized that spiritual discipline and calmness are essential for anyone seeking to fulfill divine destiny.
