Popular South African actress Shalate Sekhabi has officially exited House of Zwide, the hit e.tv telenovela where she captivated audiences for four years as the beloved character Shoki.
Sekhabi, who joined the show in 2021 when it premiered, became an instant fan favorite for her portrayal of the strong-willed and stylish Shoki.
Taking to Instagram to announce her departure, the actress described her exit as “bittersweet”, expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity and the impact it has had on her career.
“This is very bittersweet for me because I will miss playing Shoki. I played her for four years, and most of you know me as her,” she wrote.
“It’s because of this character that I’ve become a household name and got my start in this industry.”
Her departure marks the end of a memorable chapter for both fans and the House of Zwide family. Sekhabi extended heartfelt thanks to Bomb Productions, e.tv, and the loyal viewers who supported her throughout the journey.
“This is truly the end of an era, but all chapters have to end at some point. I look forward to my future endeavours and sharing more work with all of you.”

Born in Mafikeng, North West province, Shalate Sekhabi is more than just a talented actress—she’s also a scholar.
She earned her degree in Film and Television from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2023 and later completed her Honours degree, balancing her academic success with her rising career.
Her passion for acting began at a young age. Sekhabi began attending acting classes at the age of eight and landed her first film role at 13. Over the years, she has built an impressive résumé, featuring in shows like The River, Rhythm City, A Cup of Sugar, and Klevish.
