Dominica Chinwe, popularly known as Mummy’s Gal, who claims to have been a close female friend of the late singer Mohbad, has come forward with a heart-wrenching and detailed account of his final years.
In a recent interview with activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), she revealed startling insights into Mohbad’s encounters with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), his deteriorating mental health, and a turbulent relationship with his wife, Wunmi.
According to Mummy’s Gal, she was introduced to Mohbad by her ex-boyfriend, who was a friend of the singer. She recalled that on the day of the infamous NDLEA raid, she was with Mohbad, Wunmi, and her ex at a residence in Victoria Island. The tension escalated when news broke that fellow Marlian artist Zinoleesky had been arrested.
She described how they rushed to the Marlian residence, only to find NDLEA officers barricading the entrance. Mohbad managed to get inside and reportedly urged her to start a live video to draw public attention to the incident.
Mummy’s Gal painted a vivid picture of what followed, describing Mohbad’s bold attempt to intervene.
“Mohbad told us to enter his car and followed the NDLEA bus to the estate gate. They started shooting and rammed his car three times. He jumped out in anger and began exchanging blows. They beat him badly with the butt of their rifles and forced him into their van while he was bleeding,” she claimed.
She alleged that Mohbad was released later that night due to a scheduled performance in Dubai, but his condition had worsened.
“After the NDLEA incident, he was hospitalized and later taken to Aro for mental health treatment because he constantly complained about his head,” Mummy Gal said.
Her revelations didn’t stop there. She accused Wunmi of questionable behavior, claiming she used laughing gas and once contacted Naira Marley, alleging Mohbad’s family posed a threat to him.
Mummy’s Gal said Wunmi went as far as sharing private family details with Naira Marley, supposedly seeking his assistance. Although a UK doctor was willing to treat Mohbad abroad for six months, Mummy’s Gal claimed the situation fell apart when Wunmi began blaming her ex-boyfriend.
Despite receiving treatment, Mohbad’s mental health reportedly continued to decline. According to Mummy’s Gal, his parents brought a nurse to assist with his care, but his distress persisted. Eventually, she said the family reconciled with Naira Marley—despite the viral video in which Mohbad stated, “If I die, it is Naira Marley.”
Mummy’s Gal insists Mohbad was not in a stable mental state when he recorded that clip. She also referenced another video, where Mohbad warned Wunmi that her family would not know peace if anything happened to him. According to her, the video was filmed back in 2022 and only surfaced after his death.
She further recalled a moment when Wunmi allegedly reported Mohbad’s close friend, Bella Shmurda, to Naira Marley for offering Mohbad a hard substance.
Mummy Gal’s account has stirred deep emotions online, raising new questions about what the late artist was truly facing in his final days. Her testimony adds another layer to the already complex and tragic story of Mohbad’s life and untimely death.
