Legendary rapper and cultural icon Snoop Dogg has officially joined the ownership group of Championship side Swansea City, the Welsh club confirmed on Thursday.
The 53-year-old music mogul—real name Calvin Broadus—was recently spotted wearing the club’s new 2025/26 home kit in a surprise appearance on Swansea’s social media, sparking rumors of deeper involvement. Those rumors have now been confirmed, with Snoop stepping in as a new investor.
He joins Croatian football star Luka Modric, who also acquired a stake in the club earlier this year. Modric, fresh off a move to AC Milan, is one of several high-profile names reshaping the Swans’ ownership profile.
“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop said via the club’s official website.
“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”
This development follows the club’s acquisition by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November 2024. The duo has since been looking to expand Swansea’s global reach—and with Snoop Dogg’s 100+ million social media followers, they’re poised to do just that.
“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City,” the club’s owners said.
“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us boost the club’s profile. He’s made it clear how excited he is to be involved—and we expect his influence to help us field a more competitive team.”
The club also aims to increase revenue through strategic global partnerships, helping them navigate the profit and sustainability rules in British football and invest more aggressively in top talent.
This move mirrors the Hollywood-backed success story of Swansea’s Welsh rivals Wrexham, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who have climbed the English football ranks since their 2020 purchase.
With new star power behind the scenes, Swansea fans are now watching to see if the Doggfather can help lead their club back to the Premier League for the first time since 2018.
