Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has named the individual he believes stole his AI-powered Ray-Ban smart glasses during a protest at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters on Monday.
Sowore had led a group of retired police officers in a protest to demand improved pension benefits. However, shortly after the demonstration, he alleged that his glasses were snatched off his face — a moment that was captured on camera.
Taking to his Facebook page on Tuesday, Sowore claimed that Aku Victor Chiemere, a cameraman attached to the office of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, was responsible for the theft.
“During the historic #PoliceProtest at the Force Headquarters, Aku Victor Chiemere, a staff cameraman under CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, stole my Ray-Ban AI smart glasses,” Sowore stated.
He described the act as both criminal and disgraceful, insisting it was carried out with the involvement of a senior police officer. He is demanding the immediate return of his smart glasses and the prosecution of both CSP Adejobi and Chiemere for theft, conspiracy, and official misconduct.
