Thomas Partey Set to Leave Arsenal as Contract Talks Break Down

Thomas Partey, the Ghanaian international and Arsenal midfielder, has been officially charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, according to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed the charges after reviewing a file of evidence submitted by the Met’s detectives. Partey, aged 32, of Hertfordshire, now faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, with the alleged incidents occurring between 2021 and 2022.

“The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives,” read the official statement.

“The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: Five counts of rape, One count of sexual assault.

The case is expected to proceed through the UK judicial system, and a court date is expected to be announced shortly.

Neither Arsenal FC nor Partey’s representatives have released a formal statement at the time of this report.

The serious nature of the allegations has cast a shadow over Partey’s professional future at Arsenal and with the Ghana national team.
