In a shocking twist following the high-profile Diddy trial, U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly backed the firing of federal prosecutor Maurene Comey, the legal force behind both Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal case and the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
According to AllHipHop, Comey — daughter of former FBI Director James Comey — was dismissed from her role in the Southern District of New York on Wednesday, July 16. The move was carried out by Attorney General Pam Bondi, allegedly with the support of President Trump himself.
While the official letter of dismissal reportedly cited Article II of the Constitution, which outlines the president’s executive powers, no specific reason was given for the abrupt termination. So far, there’s been no comment from the DOJ, the White House, or the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Comey had played a significant role in Diddy’s federal prosecution and was also deeply involved in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, including the conviction of Epstein’s notorious associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
This controversial decision comes just as Trump finds himself at the center of renewed criticism over the Epstein “client list” files, which he previously claimed he would declassify. The federal government later declared that no such list exists and reiterated that Epstein died by suicide, igniting widespread skepticism and backlash online.
Critics now speculate that Comey’s firing could be a politically motivated move, possibly intended to halt or redirect investigations linked to Epstein’s legacy or Diddy’s conviction. While Trump has denied accusations of a cover-up, online backlash continues to mount.
Meanwhile, Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly entered therapy and drug treatment programs while awaiting sentencing. The sessions are said to focus on partner-to-partner violence, relationship education, and substance abuse recovery.
As questions swirl around the real reason behind Maurene Comey’s dismissal, all eyes are on whether Trump will address the matter publicly—or whether the controversy around Epstein’s past and Diddy’s future will intensify further.
