Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has jokingly warned his former teammate, Noni Madueke, to tread carefully on the pitch following Madueke’s high-profile switch from Chelsea to Arsenal.
Madueke, who recently signed a five-year deal with Arsenal in a £52 million move, was greeted with playful banter from Fofana on Instagram. The French centre-back lightheartedly reminded the England international that their friendship would be put on hold once they meet as rivals in the Premier League.
“See you on the field, protect your ankles — we are enemies now. All the best mon frère ❤️,” Fofana wrote in his post.
The pair played together at Chelsea, having both joined the club within months of each other — Fofana arriving from Leicester City in the summer of 2022, while Madueke was signed from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window of 2023.
Together, they contributed to Chelsea’s resurgence last season, helping the team secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League. With Madueke now donning Arsenal’s red and white, their next encounter on opposite sides promises to be an intense but respectful battle between former teammates turned London rivals.
