Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe’s recent allegations against the minister.
Senator Kingibe had accused Wike of illegally allocating large tracts of land to his sons and approving questionable fee waivers on land titles—allegedly reducing fees from N200 million to N2 million within 48 hours.
She made the claims during an interview on Arise TV, stating she had documents to back her allegations and planned to present them before the National Assembly.
In a strongly worded response on Facebook, Olayinka dismissed the allegations and challenged Kingibe to present the evidence she claimed to possess publicly.
“Responsible and serious people don’t go on national TV to say ‘I have evidence of corruption by government officials’; they display whatever evidence they have, release them to the public, and forward same to relevant anti-corruption agencies,” he wrote.
Olayinka went further, calling Kingibe an “accidental senator” and accused her of clinging to Wike’s name for political relevance.
“That accidental senator, Ireti (alias Kingibe), who is impersonating by bearing the name of a man she is no longer married to, should go back to the TV station and display the documents she claimed to have on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”
“The Senate seat she got accidentally in 2023 won’t be retained in 2027 using Wike as a launchpad. The earlier she knows and accepts this, the better for Madam Impersonator,” he added.
As tensions escalate, political watchers are keeping a close eye on how this war of words between the FCT Senator and the Minister’s camp will unfold.
