Chicago R&B singer Ann Marie has spoken out after rumours spread on social media alleging she has HIV.
Addressing the speculation in an Instagram Story, she wrote (as captured by VladTV):
“Now be fr, y’all lame asf!!! Find y’all somebody else to play with.”
The rumours stem from a 2020 police body-cam video that resurfaced online, showing officers responding to a dispute at her brother’s home. In the footage, one officer described the argument, claiming her brother accused her of being “dirty” and having HIV.
Despite the chatter, fans have flooded her latest Instagram post with supportive comments. One wrote:
“Baby we dgaf if it’s true or not, it’s your life you have to live and we love u either way!!!!! Keep coming with them hits, Phat Phat!!!! Eff what they talkin’ bout!!!!!”
Another added:
“Why are y’all in her comments harassing her about her personal health? She doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. Sht like this can hurt a person emotionally, mentally, and physically. Show some respect!!”*
This isn’t the first time Ann Marie has faced public scrutiny. In 2020, she was charged with possession of a gun and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting incident at an Atlanta hotel involving her friend and alleged boyfriend, Jonathon Wright. Police records stated she claimed a gun had “fallen off the table” before it discharged. Wright survived, and Ann Marie served a year in prison.
Musically, Ann Marie remains best known for her 2019 hit single “Secret”, and she has dropped several mixtapes, including her Tripolar series and Unfuckwitable (2017).
Her recent post makes it clear she’s choosing to focus on her music career, while dismissing the viral rumors.
