Barcelona Secure Montjuïc Stadium Until 2026 as Camp Nou Renovations Continue

Barcelona have officially extended their stay at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (Montjuïc) until February 2026, ensuring a backup venue in case work on the Spotify Camp Nou faces further delays.

According to reports in Spain, the Catalan giants have reached an agreement with the Barcelona City Council that will allow them to continue using Montjuïc until at least the Champions League playoff stage of the 2025/26 season.

The move provides Barça with security as construction on the revamped Camp Nou, part of the ambitious Espai Barça project, progresses. While the club remains hopeful of returning to their iconic stadium earlier, Montjuïc will remain a guaranteed Plan B for both domestic and European fixtures.

The Camp Nou renovation project, which began in 2023, is set to transform the iconic ground into a modern footballing arena with state-of-the-art facilities. When completed, the new Spotify Camp Nou will boast a capacity of around 105,000 seats, making it the largest stadium in Europe. The redevelopment also includes a retractable roof covered with solar panels, upgraded hospitality areas, and cutting-edge technology to enhance the matchday experience for fans.

Barcelona expect to gradually move back into Camp Nou during the 2025/26 season, but the extended deal with Montjuïc ensures that the club will not face logistical challenges if delays occur.
