From “Wipe Me Down” to a possible prison lockdown, Boosie Badazz may soon be facing serious time behind bars.
The 42-year-old rapper, born Torence Hatch Jr., officially pleaded guilty on Tuesday (August 26) to a federal count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The charge stems from his 2023 arrest in California, when police discovered two guns inside a vehicle he was riding in.
Earlier this month, Boosie hinted at the outcome, telling fans:
“Just accepted a plea from the federal government on my gun case. I thought this case was over n I was going to get on with my life but God don’t make mistakes n I’m tired of fighting. Talked to my family n this is the right decision. To all my fans across the world, say a prayer for ya boy n go get the new album.”
Boosie, who was taken into custody in a San Diego neighborhood in May 2023, now faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison. His sentencing has been scheduled for November 21.
His defense attorney, Meghan Blanco, shared optimism about the case, saying:
“He wanted nothing more than to accept responsibility and put this behind him, and now it’s my job to make sure the court understands the scope of the case and what it’s really about. And more importantly, all of the amazing things that Mr. Hatch has done for the community and continues to do, and the amazing things that he will do going forward.”
