Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy, has laughed off bizarre claims that he refuses to shave his armpits because they are the source of his success through voodoo.
The rumor has circulated for years after photos of the singer’s unshaved armpits sparked online debates, with some fans speculating that his “power” lies there.
In a candid chat with Apple Music, Burna Boy addressed the misconception directly.
“One is that I don’t like to shave my armpits. People think it’s like Samson in the Bible whose power was in his hair. Some even claim my armpit is where my power is because I don’t shave,” he said, laughing.
The “Last Last” hitmaker dismissed the superstitions as ridiculous:
“In Nigeria you hear crazy things. There are people that think it’s some voodoo sht, like my power is in my armpits. I don’t even know how to explain it. It’s just dumb sht going on. I even tried to find out if it’s possible.”
Burna’s response shows once again that while the world may speculate, he’s more focused on making hits than proving myths.
