Amid swirling transfer rumours, Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak is being urged to address speculation linking him with a big-money move to Liverpool.
Former Magpies star Chris Waddle has publicly called on the Swedish striker to break his silence, following reports that Liverpool have submitted a £120 million bid, with another offer possibly in the works.
Isak, 25, has notably missed Newcastle’s pre-season fixtures, further intensifying speculation about a possible exit from St. James’ Park.
Speaking to Flashscore, Waddle emphasized the need for clarity:
“Isak never really speaks. Fans would appreciate it if he came forward to clear the air. It’s unsettling, especially with the new season around the corner.”
The call comes just days after Nigerian international Ademola Lookman cleared the air over his own future, publicly reaffirming his commitment to Atalanta amid exit rumours.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe also recently commented on the situation, admitting the uncertainty surrounding Isak’s future is “difficult for all parties.”
Isak, who joined the Magpies in 2022 for a club-record fee, has become a vital part of Newcastle’s attack, scoring 21 goals across all competitions last season. He remains a key figure in their bid to secure Champions League qualification again.
Waddle believes a short message from the striker—either confirming his stay or clarifying his next move—would go a long way toward easing fans’ concerns.
“Even if he just says, ‘I’m staying this season,’ it would stop the speculation,” Waddle added.
